Spooner Family | A family session in a cool alleyway in downtown Clinton, Iowa

I was so excited to hear from Kara! I first met her in May when I photographed the Clinton Community College nursing pinning ceremony. My dad hooked me up with that gig; he’s one of the instructors for the nursing program and thought it would be great for them to have the event documented. This was my second time photographing the pinning and it’s been such a privilege to watch the hard work pay off for the students. Kara sat with us for lunch after and we got to chit chat, she’s so kind and I know my dad loves working with her as well. So when she emailed me to ask if I could do her family pictures of course I said yes! Thankfully we found a date that worked during this crazy busy Fall photography season and even got super lucky with the weather.

Even though the handsome men in her family were a little less than thrilled to have family portraits taken, it didn’t take them long to relax and make it a fun experience! I loved their session and the photos we got from it…here are some of them!

Gabriel + Easton | A little session with the Wiebenga brothers at Eagle Point Park in Clinton, Iowa

I’m so happy that Danielle contacted me last Summer to do family photos! I’ve now had the opportunity to work with her family a couple more times and I’ve especially loved getting to hang out with these cool dudes! They’re so funny, they love each other and they also love to wrestle and race each other. I think that competitive nature must be a brother thing! We actually discovered that our boys are all really close in age. In fact, Easton and my little guy are in the same preschool class and Gabriel and my oldest both started Kindergarten this year. So yeah, super close!

For a ten minute session, I’d say we got a lot of great shots! And these are just some of my favorites!

Dykstra Family | An extended family session on 20 beautiful acres in Thomson, Illinois

I’m sure I’ve said this before but I don’t mind saying it again…I love when clients invite me to do photos on their private property! It’s always fun getting a new location to shoot at and it gives some extra special sentiment to the photos. What mom wouldn’t want photos of her whole family at home?? There’s no place like home, after all!

I have many more to show the Dykstra family, but here are some of my favorites so far!
