Spooner Family | A family session in a cool alleyway in downtown Clinton, Iowa

I was so excited to hear from Kara! I first met her in May when I photographed the Clinton Community College nursing pinning ceremony. My dad hooked me up with that gig; he’s one of the instructors for the nursing program and thought it would be great for them to have the event documented. This was my second time photographing the pinning and it’s been such a privilege to watch the hard work pay off for the students. Kara sat with us for lunch after and we got to chit chat, she’s so kind and I know my dad loves working with her as well. So when she emailed me to ask if I could do her family pictures of course I said yes! Thankfully we found a date that worked during this crazy busy Fall photography season and even got super lucky with the weather.

Even though the handsome men in her family were a little less than thrilled to have family portraits taken, it didn’t take them long to relax and make it a fun experience! I loved their session and the photos we got from it…here are some of them!

Wiersema Family | A late Summer family session by the Mississippi River in Clinton, Iowa

I was so looking forward to this family session! It was awhile ago that Alesha first contacted me about doing family photos, and we finally made it happen by the river on the most beautiful September evening! Brantley is 3 (but almost 4!) and he is such a character! We’ve actually had a playdate in the past with my kiddos and he’s just the sweetest boy, so smart and funny and totally willing to pee outside if the urge strikes (true story lol). I’m so happy with how their photos are turning out and I hope they love them as much as I do.

Hoffman Family | A beautiful Sunday morning at the Bickelhaupt Arboretum in Clinton, Iowa

Who would’ve thought we’d already have Fall weather in August?! It was seriously the most perfect morning for a family session at the Arboretum. I absolutely loved meeting this adorable family and especially 10 month old Lincoln! I may be a little bias, but I think her name is awesome! And I never would’ve thought of Lincoln for a girl, I just love it! If you’re wondering why I’m bias, it’s because my son is named Lincoln too. :)

Anyway, I know mom and dad were a little worried she wasn’t as smiley as usual…but LOOK at how many smiles we got! And not just that, but the sweetest moments between all three of them. This was a great session, I got soooo many wonderful shots and really enjoyed my time with them. I hope they had a good time too! Now…who’s ready for a sneak peek?!
