This work matters to me. Not just because of the photos, but because of the people in them.
WHY I DO THIS
I’ve always been drawn to people. The way they connect, the way they show up for each other, the little moments that don’t seem like much until they’re gone.
As a mom, I’d absolutely choose “freeze time” as my superpower… no question.
Photography is the closest I’ve gotten so far.
MY WORK
My style is rooted in authenticity. You don’t need to perform or be anything other than yourself. I’ll take care of the rest.
I focus on getting things right in camera, with editing that’s clean and intentional, not heavy or overdone. Every session is shaped by its own light, and I let that be part of the story instead of forcing everything to look exactly the same.
True-to-life color is a priority, especially when it comes to skin tones. You should look like you.
The end result is imagery that feels natural, consistent, and timeless without leaning too trendy or too stylized.
MY LIFE
I’ve been photographing weddings and families for 16 years, based in Clinton, IA (conveniently located between the Quad Cities and Dubuque areas).
I started Artsmith Photography when I was 21 and newly married, and somehow it turned into the career I always hoped it could be.
My husband Andrew works in Emergency Management (which means he’s either planning for worst-case scenarios or handing out glowsticks at community events), and we have three kids who keep life full in the best way.
My mom, Terry, has been by my side in this business for over a decade. She’s my right hand and helps keep everything running smoothly.
When I’m not working, I’m usually reading or writing (currently working on my first novel), or trying to balance needing alone time with also wanting to have people over.
