What to Expect
Families
My goal is to make your session fun and relaxed while capturing images you’ll love for years. I guide each family through moments of connection and bursts of movement, adapting to what feels right. My best tip? Let go of control. Kids will be kids—they might resist, cry, or distract you—and that’s perfectly normal. Families who embrace those imperfections and stay joyful almost always end up with the most memorable photos.
Couples
Don’t worry if you’ve never had professional photos together. I’ll walk you through every step and teach you a few simple poses before we begin. Once you see how effortless it is, posing will feel like second nature, and you can focus on each other instead of where to put your hands. We’ll capture a mix of classic smiles, playful laughter, and intimate moments. Feeling awkward at first is completely normal, but by the 15-minute mark you’ll be relaxed and looking like pros!
Individuals
Whether you’re a high school senior or a small business owner, new portraits can feel intimidating. Believe me, I get it (I’m not a fan of being in front of the camera either!). But it really does get easier. Once you push past the first few awkward moments, you’ll start to relax. I’ll guide you through every pose so you can focus on being yourself. My best tip? Don’t overthink it... have fun and let your true personality shine!

Frequenty Asked Questions
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
The sooner, the better (especially for weekends, which tend to fill up quickly). Sessions can typically be scheduled within a few weeks, and I’ll book sessions up to 6 months in advance.
WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Sessions are most often outdoors using natural light. I’m happy to suggest locations with great light and variety based on the look you’re going for. If you’re interested in a studio session, there are a few rental options available in the area. Studio rental fees are paid by the client.
DO YOU TRAVEL?
Yes! Travel within 50 miles of Clinton, IA is included. Beyond that, a simple travel fee will apply.
CAN I/WE DO OUTFIT CHANGES OR MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?
The Classic Session allows for one outfit change, but stays within one location. If you’re looking for multiple locations or more flexibility, the Heirloom Session is the best fit.
WHAT SHOULD I/WE WEAR?
The goal is to choose outfits that feel like you, but photograph well together.
I recommend starting with a neutral or cohesive color palette and avoiding large logos, busy patterns, neon colors, or anything too distracting. Soft textures, layers, and subtle patterns tend to photograph beautifully and add variety without overwhelming the image. If you’re planning an outfit change, keep it simple and make sure it fits within the flow of your session.
Families or couples: it’s best to wear colors that complement each other instead of identical outfits.
If you’re ever unsure, feel free to send me options, I’m always happy to help you decide!
WHAT IF I/WE FEEL AWKWARD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?
Totally normal...and you’re not alone. I’ll guide you the entire time so nothing feels forced or uncomfortable. Most people end up saying this was the part they were most worried about, and it ends up being fun!
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE PHOTOS?
You can expect your gallery within approximately 3 weeks after your session.
CAN I PRINT THE PHOTOS?
Yes! You’ll receive personal printing rights, and your gallery makes it easy to download, share, and print your images.
DO YOU OFFER MINI SESSIONS?
Yes! Mini sessions are offered at select times throughout the year. Be sure to join my email list or follow along on social media to be the first to know when they’re released.
