Kayla's Family | Farm Family Session

Family sessions with kids are always a little bit unpredictable, and that's part of documenting a family exactly where they are right now.

I met up with Kayla and her family for a morning session at a friend's farm, where we had fences to climb and a few animals nearby to keep things interesting.

We started with the whole family and worked our way through different groupings, but some of my favorite photos from the morning came in between. The kids climbing on the fences, wandering around together, and getting a chance to just play gave us a mix of traditional family photos and some much more casual ones too.

I think there's room for both in a family gallery. Of course we want those photos where everyone is together and looking at the camera, but I also love including the ones that show a little more of what life with your family actually looks like at this particular age.

Kids grow and change so quickly, and the things that feel completely ordinary right now won't always be. The way they interact with each other, the personalities they bring to the family, and even the simple photos of them playing together eventually become part of what you want to remember.
