The Lippy Life

A year and a month ago I made the decision to join SeneGence International because I fell IN LOVE with their products. I never ever imagined I would join a direct sales company, but here I am! My main passion and career is obviously photography, but I'll tell ya, this makeup side gig has been a blast. I've met some incredible women (some of whom I did photos for and will be showing up here in a few minutes). I've built a massive collection of SeneGence awesmeness, especially the LipSense. Ladies, if you haven't tried LipSense, get on it! I've never had a lipstick that I could put on and not worry about again. It comes in especially handy when I shoot weddings. The last person on a wedding day who should be touching up makeup is the photographer! Not only that, but what I really didn't expect, is the extra cash. I know, it sounds funny not to expect a business to make money, but I was most excited about the discount on products and connections with friends. Somehow, I, a self proclaimed introvert and totally un-salesy person, has managed to sell a crap ton of makeup and have a team of almost 30 people under me. It's hard to believe, but I am so grateful for this fun opportunity!

And to mix these two loves was so much fun! Here are just 4 of the beautiful ladies on my team and along for this fun ride with me!

Sam & Mommy, Gone Fishing

There was quite a bit of discussion trying to decide on the perfect location for Sam's 6 year pictures. After photographing five years worth of photo shoots, you can say we've burned through quite a few ideas already! Then Erica thought of her uncle's land, complete with a lake, dock, and canoe. I'm ALWAYS excited for a new spot to explore and I was not disappointed. You guys, it was like a dream. The sun was peeking through the trees, making sparkles come to life in the lake and casting that perfect photographer's light over the entire scene.

As always, Erica had some fun ideas in mind, but mostly we just let Sam have fun fishing! It's something he enjoys doing anyway so it was easy to get him on board. While he and his grandpa got the canoe out I took a few shots of just Erica. This was a little extra something fun because we just so happen to both be lip bosses! In fact, she's my SeneGence upline and the one who introduced me to LipSense. Another reason I love this gal! I met Erica six years ago when she hired me for Sam's newborn pictures, but over the last year I've really gotten to know her better. She's an absolutely beautiful person, inside and out, a great mama to her little bear, and one of the most generous and giving people I've ever met.

All of that being said, it goes without saying that I am super excited to share the highlights from Sam and Erica's lakeside photo shoot!

Because who doesn't like free??

It blows my mind a little bit when a business still does not accept credit cards because of how easy it has become!  I've actually worked at a couple places in the past that couldn't take cards and I always got the strangest looks...or people who were just flat out angry about it.

But really, it couldn't be much simpler, especially if you have a smart phone or tablet. I use Square to process cards. They send you a FREE card reader and their processing fees are reasonable. 2.75% for a transaction. So if someone pays me $100, the fee ends up being only $2.75. Worth it!

And, what's even better is I have a referral link for FREE processing on your first $1,000! Feel free to use it - https://squareup.com/i/C59D1FC5

So again, free card reader, free processing on a grand...pretty great deal! Oh and once you sign up, you'll get your own referral link to share to help others get free processing. Plus, for each person who uses it, you'll personally get more free processing. WIN WIN!

After you sign up for your account and download the app, it will take you through the steps to connect your bank account so you can get paid. I'm attaching a tutorial for setting up invoicing on an iPhone.

Good luck with your business venture and I hope you're super successful and far surpass $1,000 in sales!

Oh and side note! If you clicked on this blog from my home page, you may have noticed the awesome vintage crocheted camera purse! Purse...credit cards, I thought it made enough sense to use the image. But, it isn't mine, I just want a crocheted camera purse from Meemanan's shop, and if you got here from Instagram, you may have seen my adorable baby boy in the cutest newsboy outfit made by Miss Lene! You can find both of their shops on Etsy!

I love crocheted items...I can't pull it off for the life of me, but I love what people can create with yarn! And it reminds me of my grandma. No matter what we were doing, she was ALWAYS crocheting. Every car trip, card game, movie night...she had yarn and hooks and was going to town on some new project.

Do you crochet, sew, paint, or otherwise create? Share a link to your work in the comments so I can check it out! Then sign up for square and start getting paid for your hard work and talent!
