Personality Types: Why I am the way I am
Ever take a personality test and feel like it just roasted you... politely? I recently dove back into the Enneagram and Myers-Briggs personality types. Not just for fun (though yes, I do love a good quiz), but because I wanted to better understand how my natural tendencies show up behind the camera.
Spoiler: I'm an INFJ and a Type 9 on the Enneagram. And that explains a lot. From how I communicate with clients to why I sometimes forget to eat lunch during a shoot because I’m so focused on keeping things calm and comfortable.
Learning my type didn’t just give me insight into myself. It also helped me fine-tune the way I pose, connect, and create a space where people can feel truly seen.
My Results
INFJ – The Advocate
INFJs are known for being empathetic, introspective, and highly intuitive, often called “the rarest personality type.” We thrive on meaning and depth and tend to feel most energized by one-on-one connection. When I’m behind the camera, I’m always trying to read the room, notice the unspoken things, and capture something real—even in posed moments.
Type 9 (Wing 4) – The Peacemaker with Creative Depth
Type 9s crave inner peace and harmony. We’re calm, easygoing, and excellent at helping others feel comfortable. (Which, by the way, is the dream when you're posing people for a camera.)
But we also have a tendency to put ourselves last and avoid conflict, even with ourselves. The 4 wing adds creative sensitivity and a love of beauty, depth, and uniqueness. So yes, I may forget to eat during shoots, but your gallery will have heart and soul and probably a little poetic flair.
Why It Matters Behind the Lens
Understanding my type changed the way I work with clients in subtle but powerful ways. Here's how:
I prioritize emotional comfort. As a Type 9, I’m tuned into the vibe of a room. Whether you’re wrangling toddlers or holding back tears before walking down the aisle, my calm energy helps you breathe, reset, and feel like yourself again.
I read between the lines. That INFJ intuition helps me pick up on the real moments. The way your partner looks at you when you’re not looking, the kid with the shy smile hiding behind mom’s leg, the laughter between generations during family formals.
I guide with clarity and care. I give detailed, confident posing direction to help you feel relaxed and look your best while also making room for natural movement, personality, and connection. It’s structured without being stiff, and intentional without losing heart.
I understand overwhelm. Because I experience it, too. Weddings are emotional. Family sessions can feel chaotic. I’ve built my workflow to give you space when you need it, support when you don’t know what to do with your hands, and images that feel like memories, not just photos.

I actually wrote a more personal version of this post on my writer’s blog, where I explore how being an INFJ 9w4 shows up in my creative process and even how it influences my novel characters. I’d Love to Know Yours
If you take the test, feel free to drop your results in the comments or shoot me a message. I’m always fascinated by how our personalities shape our creativity, and I love connecting with clients (and fellow creatives!) who see the world through their own unique lens.
