Grace + Lee / A Sentimental Summer Wedding in Clinton, Iowa

On June 7, 2025, Grace Lee and Lee Foster celebrated their love with a heartfelt ceremony at River Church in Clinton, Iowa, followed by a joyful reception at the Millenium Ballroom in Goose Lake. From the very beginning, this day was rich with meaning. Not just for the couple, but for their entire family. Their wedding date marked what would have been the 61st anniversary of Lee’s grandparents. Though his late grandmother couldn’t be there, her presence was deeply felt, especially by Lee’s grandpa and the generations she helped shape.

The day was filled with happy tears on both sides of the family. Emotions ran high in the best way, and it was clear just how deeply loved and supported Grace and Lee are. Before even seeing her groom, Grace shared several beautiful first look moments: one with her bridesmaids, one with her dad, and one with her three brothers. Each moment brought laughter, tears, and so much love. It set the tone for the incredible day ahead.

Grace and Lee were surrounded by such a warm, welcoming wedding party. The bridesmaids were so kind and helpful. It’s easy to see that Grace has a strong support system around her. And Lee? He fits right in with Grace’s three brothers, who have clearly claimed him as one of their own.

One of the most emotional moments of the day happened just before the ceremony. Grace and Lee chose to do a private first look, a decision I always love from both a photography and storytelling perspective. Not only does it help settle nerves and ease into the day emotionally, but it also gives couples a quiet, intimate space to truly soak in the moment together. Grace and Lee took it one step further and exchanged private vows during their first look, which made it even more personal and meaningful. It was such a beautiful way to kick off their day! And logistically, it allowed us to get the majority of their photos done early, which turned out to be a great call because after their ceremony... it poured.

Thankfully, we had plenty of time to capture their portraits beforehand, and the rain didn’t dampen the party one bit. In fact, the reception was incredible. From the packed dance floor (thank you, Twisted Mics Entertainment!) to the seamless coordination of the day’s events. Their ride between venues with Three Guys and a Bus added a fun energy to the transition, and once everyone arrived, the celebration truly began.

Grace’s style was modern glam through and through, and her sparkly gown from Storybook Ending in DeWitt fit the vibe perfectly. Their wedding colors—dusty blue, navy, and silver—tied everything together in a dreamy palette that felt both elegant and fresh. And there was no shortage of thoughtful details, from the custom-made ceremony arch built by the bride’s grandpa (so special!) to the surprise bouquet dedication Grace planned for her mom. Clinton Floral recreated her mother’s wedding bouquet, and Grace gifted it to her during the reception. A moment that brought more joyful tears and heartfelt hugs.

Grace and Lee are headed for a magical honeymoon adventure to Disney (how perfect is that?), and I couldn’t be happier for them as they start this next chapter. It was such a joy capturing their day, and I also loved working alongside Stang Films. Rick was fantastic, and I can’t wait to see the video he puts together.

Grace and Lee, thank you for letting me be part of your day. Your love, your people, and your intentional, joy-filled celebration were such a gift to witness.
