Sunflower Mini Sessions / Beauty Beyond the Blooms

I’ll be honest… this year’s sunflower minis didn’t go quite as planned. By the time we made it out to the field, the blooms were fading, the bugs were relentless, and I even got my very first bee sting while setting up. (Thankfully I learned I’m not allergic—whew!) Through it all, every single family who came out was so understanding, flexible, and full of joy despite the heat and the bites. And honestly? That made the images even more meaningful.

Here are some of my favorite highlights:

🌻 The Nelsons brought their two little girls, ages almost one and three. Since we had to wake them from naps, they were not having it at first. But sometimes you just roll with it, and I think the cuddly, in-between moments we captured turned out just as sweet as any smiles.

🌻 The Vosses came with their two girls (and pup—also a girl!) and used their mini giveaway win for a sunflower session. Their evening was easygoing and lighthearted, and I loved capturing their laughter.

🌻 The Keevers were my only couple without kids in tow, since theirs are all grown. They’ve been together many years, and their humor and charm made photographing them in the field such a joy.

🌻 The Garretts had probably the smoothest session of the day. Their kids were happy and easygoing. Side note, their little guy was the only boy I photographed all day! Their time in front of the camera felt quick, lighthearted, and full of smiles.

🌻 The Chezums were just plain fun. Dad was cracking jokes and even trying out TikTok trends while we shot, and their two girls were total angels. Their laughter filled the field, and I couldn’t stop smiling right along with them.

At the end of the day, it wasn’t about perfect flowers. It was about these families, their stories, and the joy they brought with them.
