Lexi + Austin | A wedding celebration at the Barn at Brophy Creek in DeWitt, Iowa
I just adore this wedding! It was so beautiful, well-planned and the Barn at Brophy Creek is incredibly gorgeous! This day encompasses the look most couples are going for with their midwestern Fall weddings, complete with the rustic barn, changing leaves and cold temps. Okay, it may have been a little chillier than everyone was hoping for, but with this family of troopers you’d never know from the pictures! Everyone did such an amazing job of supporting this couple on their day and doing the best they could to make it perfect.
Being a natural light photographer, of course I was very thankful the rain held off until after we got plenty of portraits done. But unfortunately it didn’t wait until after the planned pond-side ceremony. Everything worked out great though and I actually think a lot of the guests were happy things were moved indoors where it was warm. And ya know, it ended up being just as beautiful inside as it would have been outside. It’s all about the love in that moment anyway, and there was plenty of that to fill the whole room and then some!
And to top it off, the farm has a greenhouse with walls of windows to let in natural light, so the plan B for the remaining portraits was still an amazing location! Seriously, every photographer’s dream!
I was so grateful to have been chosen to document the wedding of Lexi and Austin. These two have already surpassed some immense challenges in their relationship - long distance is never easy. The goodbyes, I’m sure, are never easy. The worry and the waiting, it can’t be easy. But the love and the friendship this couple shares - that part seems to come pretty easy. I hope Mr and Mrs Shibilski have a lifetime of happiness and boundless strength in their marriage - through the sunshine and the rain, the hellos and the goodbyes, and all of the ups and downs life will throw their way.
