The Wedding Day Details Your Photographer Will Thank You For

Those beautiful flat lays of rings, shoes, invitation suites, and heirloom jewelry? They don’t just magically appear… they’re carefully styled at the beginning of your wedding day.

Here’s how to make sure your details are ready to go when your photographer arrives, so you can relax and let the magic happen.

Gather Everything the Night Before

Collect all the little details you want photographed. Some of the most common items are:

  • Both wedding rings & engagement ring

  • Dress & veil

  • Shoes & jewelry

  • Invitation suite (including envelopes & stamps - bring two if it’s double sided)

  • Perfume & hair accessories

  • Any special keepsakes — like a handkerchief, vow books, or heirloom items

If you’re not sure what to include, ask your photographer, they’ll be happy to guide you!

Ask Your Florist for Extras

Before the wedding day, ask your florist to set aside a few loose blooms, greenery, or scraps that match your bouquets and decor. These can add beautiful, organic texture to your detail photos and help tie everything into your wedding colors.

Add a Ribbon or Two

If you have ribbon in your wedding colors (or even a neutral silk ribbon), tuck it in with your details. It’s a lovely way to add softness and color to your flat lays, and it works beautifully alongside your invitation suite and jewelry.

Keep It All Together

Place everything in one box, bag, or designated spot in your getting-ready space where it won’t get moved or buried under other things. This saves so much time when we arrive and lets us get right to work without interrupting hair & makeup.

Assign a Helper

If you’re busy with hair & makeup when we get there, it helps to have a bridesmaid, sibling, or friend who knows where everything is and can hand it over right away.

Include Sentimental Touches

If you have anything meaningful you’d like photographed — like your grandmother’s locket, a note from your partner, or a charm sewn into your dress — set those aside with the rest of your details so they don’t get overlooked.

Bonus: Steam Ahead

If your dress and veil need to be steamed or fluffed, try to have that done before your photographer arrives. That way, we can photograph them looking their absolute best!

Final Thought

Spending just 10 minutes the night before organizing your details saves time, keeps the morning calm, and ensures your photos tell the whole story beautifully!
