A Re-Branding Story for this Throwback Thursday Blog with Monica & Dave

Finding our voice as entrepreneurs can be a challenge. There is so much more that goes into a photography business than just taking pretty pictures. One of those things is developing a brand. This is something I hadn’t thought much about until my off-season the Winter of 2017-2018. During those months I really focused on what I wanted my business to be, who I wanted to work with and the style I wanted to implement.

Not a week after I launched my redesigned website, Monica inquired about setting up an engagement session. Now this could have been a coincidence, but I kid you not, she was exactly what I wanted in a client! She checked all of the boxes. Beautiful of course, laid back, funny, intelligent, appreciative of art and the creative process, kind, true to herself and open minded. Her and Dave were amazing to work with, totally rocked their session and I enjoyed spending the hour with them. I secretly hoped they would call me to do their wedding photography as well. And guess what… they did! It really felt like it was all meant to be; they were dream clients that I adored working with from start to finish.

Check out some of my favorite shots from their engagement session last year!

Delaney and Cooper turned 5!

A former wedding client of mine asked me if I would kindly donate to a cause they fight for every single day - the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. Of course I was happy to oblige. Soon after, I was introduced to the lovely woman, Ann, who placed the winning bid. She chose to have photos taken of 2 absolutely adorable twins, Delaney and Cooper!

I headed out to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where they all live. We met at a park with a pretty lake and even got to see some ducks up close. The kids were so easy to work with, a ton of fun, and photogenic for sure. It was such a pleasure to meet Ann and the twins. When they started feeling bored, we went over to a playground to take a little break, which loosened them up even more. So happy we got lots of genuine smiles!
