Thomas Wedding {Sneak Peek}

Monica and Dave first got in touch with me earlier this year for engagement photos. I asked a bit about their wedding plans and as she explained it, I was a little envious of whoever was their wedding photographer. Well, as luck would have it, they wound up asking me to also shoot the wedding! And it did not disappoint! It wasn’t super traditional and encompassed both Monica’s personality and Dave’s. There was glitz and glam, rockabilly hair, and a retro flair. And there were bikes, leather vests, beer and buds. It was truly a beautiful compromise that made one heck of an awesome wedding day and most importantly, the perfect beginning to their marriage. These two were made for each other and that was very obvious to everyone in attendance last Saturday.

This was fun sneak peek to put together; I hope you enjoy it!

Prins Family Sneak Peek

After weeks of nothing but rain, the sun decided to show up so we could take this family’s indoor session outside! It was fun getting some shots while they huddled up cozy on the couch, but nothing beats natural outdoor light. It was so great meeting the Prins family and seeing the love they all have for each other. And I’m going to have to bring fruit snacks to every shoot from now on because they saved the day for the littlest member of the family! It was a great time and I can’t wait to share their photos with them.

Grayson's Sneak Peek {newborn}

Grayson is such an adorable little peanut! He was welcomed into the world in the afternoon on January 2nd, weighing 6 lb 2 oz and measuring 18.5 inches long. We captured his newborn portraits at 2 1/2 weeks old in the comfort of his new home, specifically in the beautifully decorated nursery. Alli and Michael wanted to keep his session simple and chose a white onesie and of course his birthday suit along with a couple sentimental items to make the photos even more meaningful. This is definitely what I suggest for new babies, as we want to keep them the main focus. We were able to document some beautiful moments that I know Grayson's family will treasure forever!

Gavin's Sneak Peek {9 months}

To say Gavin is a happy baby boy would be an understatement! He almost never stopped smiling the whole session. I can't get over how adorable he is! He wore a couple different outfits and even had one pose in his birthday suit. It was a very casual in-home shoot with some natural window-light shining in. "In the house" is a popular setting during Iowa Winters!

I'm excited to share a little sneak peek of this 9 month old cutie!

Voss {Maternity} Sneak Peek

Alli and Michael are looking forward to welcoming a baby boy in January, which is coming up fast! I love documenting this time in an expecting couple's lives - the anticipation of the unkown, love filled hearts, and pure excitement of what's to come is captivating. It was a casual and laid back shoot; I enjoyed chatting with the Voss's as we strolled through Bickelhaupt Arboretum in Clinton, Iowa. I asked the age-old question, "Are you guys ready for this?!" And of course, they will be totally ready when he arrives! Alli and Michael enoyed their last moments in the spotlight before baby comes, which is something they'd recommend to any couple planning a maternity shoot! Just relax and enjoy your time together. Keeping it simple and natural helps capture the true essence of your relationship. It will be fun to look back on and show these pictures to your child someday.

Josh & Casey {Sneak Peek}

I met with Josh and Casey at the Arboretum in Clinton, Iowa on a chilly November afternoon, which was absolutely perfect for their photo shoot. These two love birds were so sweet and obviously gorgeous and very happy together! They were married on May 28th of this year and were excited to have a Christmas inspired photo shoot, with great images to choose from for their first Christmas cards as husband and wife. Casey and I discussed several ideas in advance and she brought along some festive props that added meaning and creativity to the photos. Also joining them for a couple shots was fur-baby Astro; He was such a trooper and did great! I won't be blogging many of the most Christmas-y pictures in case they'd like to keep them surprises for their cards. It was a lot of fun doing a themed shoot and I'm excited about how their portraits are turning out!

Taylor & Zachary {Wedding} Sneak Peek

Last November on the first snow fall in Wisconsin, Zachary Ryan Ashpole asked Taylor Alexis Ward to be his wife. And on October 15, 2016 they exchanged vows (which were absolutely amazing, despite their nerves about writing their own) and they were married in front of their many loved ones. It was such a happy day for everyone. It's so obvious that these two are meant to be together and all of their friends and family love and support them in their new adventure!

I loved everything about their wedding! The wedding party was hilarious, kind, laid-back and so much fun to work with! This was the first time I've actually had the groomsmen ask to do MORE pictures. Could not have asked for a better bunch of people, and I know Taylor and Zach feel the same way. The wedding vendors I worked alongside were great as well: A Guy and a Grill made the delicious food, Sassy Stems rocked the flowers, and the venue was stunning! Everything took place at the Barn at Brophy Creek Farm outside of DeWitt. The staff was a huge help and made the day flow seamlessly.

I am so happy for these two newlyweds and was honored to be a part of their wedding day celebration!

York Family Sneak Peek

I fell in love with West Lake when I shot there for the first time last month, so when Kristin left it up to me to find a good spot, of course I was eager to recommend it for their family portraits. We met early in the morning and the kids were in good spirits, which is always a plus. The York family wanted to get portraits with the newest member of their family, baby Jax! He is adorable, we had so much with him and his big brothers (also adorable)!
